Decisions, Decisions

I think I really have to choose among all my interests. What do I want to write about:

travel
romance
children's literature
young adult
the philippines
fantasy
speculative fiction
anime
fan fiction
komiks
flash fiction
movie/film reviews

or it could of course, be a little bit of everything. Plus, those I've listed aren't even genres, but just classifications of the kinds of stories (flash fiction).

How will I be able to do all of this? What will I write about first? I'm so confused!

So far, the ones I really don't think I can write are: children's literature, and, er... okay, I did say that I haven't decided yet. Perhaps I'm going about this the wrong way. Instead of having to choose one, why not choose one, for the moment? Wah.

I'm a little dizzy now...

Difference

"Her interests range from the deeply serious to the downright mundane," he observed. "And that goes for all her interests. And I mean all--movies, music, books, conversation topics, food and even her clothes."

"How can clothes be serious or mundane?" his friend asked.

He shrugged. "Well you know. She can look really prim and proper one day, say, she'll be wearing tailored clothes. But the next day, she'll be in flip flops and a loose t-shirt. Like that," he told him.

"And this bothers you because...?"

"It doesn't really bother me," he says him and pauses to think. "It's just so hard to decipher her character, you know? She's too... smart... too interested in too many things... It's hard to keep up."

He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Hard to keep up in what way?"

He rolled his eyes. "I don't mean that way, you perv! I just mean that, it's difficult to be in synch with her mind, her thoughts, you know? Because she thinks too fast, she talks too fast, she figures things out too quickly. You can't use any tricks on her, you can't lie, you can't make up excuses... And she's always right."

"But, doesn't that make her exciting? I mean, there'll never be a dull moment with a person like that."

"Yeah, but... Somehow I just feel like... Like she doesn't need me, you know? Like, she'll get bored with me, because I'm not as smart as she is or something," he said, and sighed. "I don't know. It's just so hard you know, when you're trying to be serious, and she's gonna be all cute and funny, and then when you're trying to be cute and funny, she'll get serious on you. It's confusing!" he shook his head. "Sometimes I wish she could just be, one thing, you know? I mean, I wish I could understand her better."

He patted his friend on the back. "Well, if that's what you want, then good luck to you. Men will never understand women. No matter what," he says. "That's a fact. The best minds in the world can never understand 'em. What makes you think you can?"

He shrugged. "Maybe you're right. But still, I wish, there were other ways we could connect."

"Don't we all?"

****

"I mean, she reads both Neil Gaiman and Meg Cabot. She'll watch both Resident Evil and I've Fallen For You. She'll buy both a floral skirt and a black Metallica t-shirt. She won't wear them together, but just the fact that she owns both of them, well... It's just weird. I mean, one minute she'll be talking to you about the different religious beliefs in the world, how Islam Fundamentalists are affecting the Christian world, but the next minute, she'll be yakking on and on about lip gloss. I just don't get it. I don't get her."
